The Continental Divide Tuba Society is a group of tuba, baritone, and euphonium players whose main interest is having fun. Our mission is to provide listening enjoyment and entertainment to audiences of all ages.

Founded in 1993 by Tom Mazanec and Dave Thomas, the Society maintains a regular rehearsal schedule and performs for whoever is brave enough to ask us.

The first public event was in 1994 at the Festival of Trees in Helena, Montana, playing Christmas carols. The Society has since played for fundraisers and celebrations, including the Old Governor’s Mansion, State Capital Restoration, ExplorationWorks!, Farm in the Dell, Helena Barbershop Chorus, and others. We have performed at Phillipsburg, Montana during the Rocky Mountain Accordion Festival and provided music for private weddings. The 4th of July celebration at Ennis, Montana included a parade and concert in the park afterwards.

We play a variety of music, including classical, modern, "oompah", American folksongs and Christmas. Using from 4-8 players, a unique low brass harmony provides a refreshing perspective on old favorites as well as less familiar tunes.

Many of the Continental Divide Tuba Society members also play in other local music groups, including the State Capital Band, Queen City Swing, and Helena Symphony.

Our membership includes teachers, retirees, state and local government workers, private industry workers, and students.
